Biophysics@Rome2026
A perspective conference on the future of biophysics
Biophysics@Rome2026 is conceived as a scientific meeting aimed at bridging microscopic molecular interactions and complex biological systems, combining advanced experimental approaches, computational modelling, emerging technologies, and Artificial Intelligence.
The conference will take place in Rome from 13 to 15 May 2026. The first two days will focus on major challenges and future directions in biophysics, while the third day will be dedicated to themes connected with the scientific activity of Lorenzo Stella, concluding with a special session devoted to personal memories.
Scientific Focus
The conference addresses key challenges in biomolecular environments, protein folding and misfolding, the role of technology in research, and innovative directions such as single-molecule techniques, omics integration, organs-on-chip and hybrid modelling.
Conference Format
Sessions are designed to go beyond traditional presentations and include chair introductions, plenary and keynote lectures, moderated debate, flash talks, and extended poster discussions to foster exchange across disciplines.
Special Events
On 14 May, the conference will host a satellite event dedicated to the META-BRAIN project. The final day will retrace important themes of Lorenzo Stella’s scientific work, including antimicrobial peptides and protein-protein interactions.
Satellite Event
On 14 May 2026, during the conference poster session, Biophysics@Rome2026 will host a satellite event dedicated to the META-BRAIN project — MagnetoElectric and ultrasound Technology for Advanced BRAIN modulation.
The event will run in parallel with the poster session and will provide an opportunity to present the objectives and recent developments of the project to the conference participants.
