Program Description
Days 1–2 (13–14 May) are organized into four thematic sessions combining plenary/keynote talks, moderated debates, flash talks and poster discussions. Day 3 (15 May) is dedicated to the scientific legacy of Prof. Lorenzo Stella.
Thematic Sessions (Days 1–2)
Challenges in Biophysics
Focusing on the hurdles of understanding complex biomolecular environments, the role of hydration and ions, and the persistent mysteries of protein folding and misfolding in neurodegenerative diseases.
The Impact of Technology
Exploring the impact of AI on research, and analysing how recent advancements like Cryo-EM, super-resolution microscopy, and High-Performance Computing have revolutionized our ability to visualize and simulate life at unprecedented scales.
Future Directions in Biophysics
A forward-looking session on single-molecule techniques, the integration of biophysics with systems-level “omics” data, astrobiology and organs-on-chip.
Innovative Approaches in Biophysics
Showcasing the “new frontier” of the field, from Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in structural prediction, to multiscale hybrid modelling, in-cell biophysical techniques and scalable properties.
Session Format
- 5-minute Introduction by the Chair, outlining the common thread and current gaps;
- 40-minute Plenary Lecture by an invited renowned speaker;
- Two 30-minute Keynote Lectures presenting high-impact applications;
- 30-minute moderated debate with Chair, speakers and audience;
- Flash Talks highlighting selected poster contributions;
- 90-minute Poster Session for in-depth 1-to-1 discussion.
Day 3 (15 May) — In memory of Prof. Lorenzo Stella
Two sessions retracing Lorenzo Stella’s scientific activity, followed by a session dedicated to personal memories.
- Antimicrobial Peptides
- Protein–Protein Interaction
Satellite Event (14 May, evening)
META-BRAIN — “MagnetoElectric and ultrasound Technology for Advanced BRAIN modulation”.
